Overview Of The Workforce Development Program
The Workforce Development Alliance Job Fair and Apprenticeship Program has served as a link to bridge the gaps between the communities, community leaders, and employers through the collaborative efforts of The Central Mississippi Building & Construction Trade Council, the Gulf Coast Building and Trade Council, the Ministerial Alliance and Mississippi Power Company. Its main objective is to provide a life-long skill in one of 13 Union Trade Crafts that will allow individuals to secure careers with higher paying wages.
The outreach efforts of the alliance has had a profound impact on each
community by identifying the overwhelming need for not only jobs, but for the fundamental need of educating and training individuals who are unskilled. There are several events surrounding each job fair, which is a part of our grassroots effort to inform the local communities. By the year 2017 there will be a shortage of 300,000 trained construction workers in the U.S. The Workforce Development Program will give participants a lifetime opportunity to make a decent living in trades that are in demand.
